Shifting Gears – Focusing on a Better Future Through Blogging
Posted in Uncategorized by admin | No CommentsThe new decade has brought with it a number of events that have touched and changed more than a billion lives across the planet. Not all events are good, but the strength of the human being lies in his ability to process events and in turn adjust corresponding behaviors and attitudes in order to survive.
One major (though not drastic) change is the growth of awareness within the global population regarding the damage that our existence is doing to the world. Over the past decades we have been developing technologies that, unknowingly, have been destroying the planet. Though some people say that there is no cause for alarm since the effects would not be immediate, the fact remains that there will be an effect and some generation in the future will feel that effect.
In order to create change in the world, some people have taken on the challenge of putting the information out there for all the people to see, read and process. Along with spreading the awareness, some have taken an extra step to recommend changes that we can implement in order to decrease the amount of damage we do to the environment. Below are some of the good blogs and sites that tackle these topics:
1) http://www.sustainabilityninja.com/ – This website posts good and bad news environment wise. It lauds good government decision and provides people with options to take in order to make the world a better place to live in.
2) http://www.thegreenshoppingguide.co.uk/ – Simply put, this is a business directory for green businesses. If the business supports or produces products that promote green living, then it could be listed here for free.
3) http://www.aselfsufficientlife.com/ – A blog about using what is around and readily available in order to live a… you guessed it! A self sufficient lifestyle! It promotes recycling and finding uses for objects that we would normally throw away. It also promotes frugality.
4) http://www.paystolivegreen.com/ – Following the main idea of the above sites, this blog speaks of technological advances that are more Eco-friendly, and how we can reduce waste.
5) http://agreenliving.net/ – Contains tips on being Eco-friendly, as well as environmental issues as well as short and long term solutions to these issues.
6) http://cluttercut.blogspot.com/ – Convinces readers that a simple, frugal life would be best for all (personally, I have to agree with her).
7) http://www.modernhippiemag.com/ – Another site promoting an ethical and frugal life. No, it does not promote smoking pot despite the name of the website.
8) http://www.greenlashesandfashion.blogspot.com/ – this should be self explanatory for any woman. For the benefit of the men though, this blog contains advise regarding green beauty products (utilize environment friendly products and look good in the process).
9) http://www.oureverydayearth.com/ – recycling tips are found on this site, as well as other tips for going green.
10) http://www.permacultureprinciples.com/ – in a pinch, this site promotes being self sufficient. Living without damaging the environment is the main theme to this scientific site.
Go through the sites. They all have their own jewels of wisdom that could help us save on expenses. Better yet, they help us lessen our own personal pollutant imprint on this earth.
